A pharmacy technician opportunity is available to support long-term care prescriptions and pharmacy operations in a dynamic healthcare setting. Key Responsibilities
- Accept and dispense prescription medications with accuracy and compliance.
- Monitor patient medication adherence and identify patterns of overuse.
- Ensure medicines supplied meet legal standards and suit patient needs.
- Maintain confidential and precise patient records and pharmacy documentation.
- Provide medication consultations addressing dosage, side effects, interactions, and proper administration.
- Educate patients on medical device usage including blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following established protocols.
- Supervise pharmacy staff such as pharmacy technicians and clerks, supporting team efficiency.
- Manage pharmaceutical and medical supply inventory.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and interns to resolve drug-related issues.
Desired Experience
- Skills in pharmacy technician duties, particularly in long-term care pharmacy.
- Willingness to learn and be trained as needed; retail pharmacist experience is welcome.
- Ability to work within regulatory guidelines and pharmacy laws.
Licensure
- Must hold a valid Wisconsin pharmacy technician license.
Schedule Details
- Primarily an as-needed basis covering 2-4 weekend shifts per month.
- Includes 2-3 on-call evening shifts weekly.
- Weekend hours: 12 PM to 4 PM.
- Weekday hours: 10 AM to 6 PM.
- On-call coverage from 6 PM to 10 AM when the pharmacy is closed.
This contract to hire role offers flexibility along with experience in a supportive pharmacy environment. The client is working with multiple vendors and updates can be gradual, so readiness to start is advantageous.
